This is a long list, but for diehard fans of itachi, please do read this post. Here are some facts I’ve compiled while reading the Itachi Shinden novels (Book of Daylight and Midnight):

• Fugaku wanted to be Hokage (part of the clan’s resentment was due to the village choosing Minato over Fugaku)
  
• Fugaku thought Izumi Uchiha was beautiful and he wanted her to stay by Itachi’s side, always
• Stunned by Izumi’s strong feelings for Itachi, Fugaku cried at the sight of Izumi after she left his house, because Fugaku was glad Itachi finally had someone who he could rely on
  
• Itachi briefly states that he did desire to pursue a relationship with Izumi, but he was afraid it would only be a distraction, a set-back to his goal of “ending all fighting in the shinobi world”. This man had some real self-discipline
• Shisui had a close friend that he killed (or technically, he let his friend die) out of envy and jealousy during the Great War, and later awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan because of immense feelings of regret
• Izumi’s mom was Hazuki Uchiha, whom was 2 years younger than Fugaku. Izumi was also a half-blooded Uchiha (her mom was an Uchiha, her dad was not)
• Shisui must have been 2-4 years older than Itachi (Itachi stated Shisui looked tired once, and that was not because he was breaching manhood) so he must have been 14-16, which at the time Itachi was 12
  
• Shisui’s father was battling an illness

It is an absolute shame that the anime did not give Itachi’s character enough credit. His story is so profound, and you can really feel his emotions through the articulate writing. I am awestruck. Itachi was a patient and selfless man whose mind was puddled with questions and doubts about his destiny in his Godforsaken clan. I have nothing else to say. Itachi is nothing short of a hero.  

Anyone else find it really ironic that Naruto and Sasuke ended up being with the women opposite of their own mothers?

Mikoto is described as gentle and calm but Sasuke ends up with Sakura.
Kushina is described as having a temper and is loud but Naruto ends up with Hinata.
